Climate Yoga

Welcome to Climate Yoga, a podcast where the practice of yoga is inspired by the environment.

Our mission is to transform the way we engage with our planet, emphasizing the importance of every breath in the fight for a sustainable future.

Each episode invites you to join us on a journey of awareness and action of a different subject. Through a mix accessible yoga practices and materials on our website, we explore solutions to environmental issues, foster mindfulness, and cultivate a community committed to positive change.

01

Nature

Celebrate the natural world's beauty, exploring how ecosystems like forests, wetlands, mangroves, seagrass, and grasslands play critical roles in carbon sequestration and biodiversity conservation.

This class is recommended to be done outdoors, in nature to ground more deeply and feel the sensations. There is a lot of visualization and mindful, repetitive movement.

02

Oceans

The ocean covers over 70% of the earths surface and protects us from the earth’s rising temperatures: it is taking in all our excess heat currently, which is why the corals are dying. They are facing a lot of threats from plastic pollution and warming, which affects us all. We’ll discuss actions to protect our oceans, restore marine ecosystems, and highlight the interconnectedness of human well-being and health oceans.

This class features poses inspired by the ocean, water wheels, moving like the tides—forward and back, in and out, with each breath syncing with these natural rhythms.

Food Waste

In this episode, we dive into the global issue of food waste, a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and resource depletion. Exploring the journey of food from farm to fork, we'll uncover how reducing food waste can combat climate change, conserve energy, and feed more people. We'll share practical tips for minimizing waste at home and highlight innovative solutions that are making a difference worldwide. This topic is crucial for understanding how our daily choices impact the planet and how we can make more sustainable decisions in our kitchens and communities.

This yoga practice includes Mindful Eating with an apple, a seed to tree flow, and a composting flow.

04

Plastics

Plastic pollution is one of the most visible environmental issues of our time, affecting land, waterways, and oceans, and contributing to global climate change through its production and disposal. We'll examine the impact of plastic on the environment and human health, explore alternatives to single-use plastics, and discuss the importance of recycling and sustainable consumption.

This yoga practice includes the power of visualization of a plastic water bottle to stimulate breath, and is a quick 30 minute flow.

Climate Justice

Climate justice addresses the ethical and political dimensions of climate change, recognizing that those least responsible for global warming often suffer its gravest consequences. This episode focuses on the social and equity aspects of climate action, exploring how marginalized communities bear the brunt of environmental degradation and highlighting movements working towards equitable solutions. We'll discuss the importance of inclusive policies and grassroots activism in driving meaningful change, underscoring the principle that climate action is also a fight for justice.

This class is done against a wall or with a partner to signify community.
