AI and Data

Syllabus Dashboard

Course syllabi were scattered across drives and inboxes with no way to search, compare, or track changes over time. Built an AI-powered syllabus management system using Airtable, Zapier, and Google Drive with automated parsing agents, custom taxonomies, and historical tracking across semesters. The system extracts learning objectives and assessment methods, and agents answer questions about prerequisites and workload comparisons.

CMU IronViz Data Competition

Won first place at the inaugural Carnegie Mellon Data Analytics Day IronViz competition in 2023 ("Seeds of Success: Planting Financial Wellness," built in Power BI). Won second place in 2024 ("The Mystery of the Classroom"). The 2023 dashboard is not public due to data sensitivity.

Global Health and Humanitarian Tech

Phone Surveys for Maternal Health in Rural India

Phone surveys could reach more pregnant women than in-person visits, but nobody had tested whether the data was reliable. Designed and validated a caller-attended phone survey tool across four districts of Madhya Pradesh for a Gates Foundation-funded impact evaluation. First-authored the resulting paper in BMJ Open.

Folia Water and the Drinkable Book

One of the first engineers at Folia Water. Ran field pilots of a silver nanoparticle water filter in Bangladesh and South Africa, then adapted the design to how each community actually collected and stored water. Created multilingual educational materials printed in food-grade ink on the filter paper itself. Two years on the team as it moved from research nonprofit to funded social enterprise.

Drones in Humanitarian Emergencies

Master's thesis at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Examined how drones could support each phase of the disaster lifecycle, from mitigation and preparation to search and rescue in response and recovery. Focused on cultural impact and effective response at the local responder level.

Low-Cost Transfemoral Prosthetic Foot

Bachelor's capstone at Carnegie Mellon. Designed a low-cost, high-durability prosthetic foot for developing countries using PVC pipes and tires, materials that could be found locally and replaced easily. Optimized for natural gait cycle.

Education and Capacity Building

The Mindfulness Room

Founded in 2012 at Carnegie Mellon. A 24-hour space for rest and presence with a waterfall wall, meditation pillows, yoga mats, and a bookshelf curated by faculty. 500 students visit twice-weekly therapy animal sessions. The model has been replicated in colleges, high schools, and hospitals globally.

EcoCampus and the MENA Green Flag

Led Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar to the first FEE EcoCampus Green Flag in the MENA region. Firsts included the first carbon offset request from Qatar Airways and the first university in Qatar to offer sustainable transportation (Metro cards). Built programs around recycling, a community garden, and campus biodiversity.

Capacity Building in Rwanda and Zimbabwe

At Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda, partnered with CMU to build a cloud-based student information system covering recruitment, education, and alumni tracking, and ran the Looking Glass Hackathon teaching programming and typing to students, faculty, and staff. In Zimbabwe, served as lead for the S.Y.STEM Coalition with CMU CS Academy and The Nyadire Connection, developing a sustainable computer science curriculum, training teachers, and running year-long robotics camps and coding clubs.

Outbreak Investigation

Built an educational contact tracing game for 9th graders and above. Students simulate epidemiologists during a disease outbreak: case analysis, hypothesis development, incubation period calculation, epidemic curves, and contact tracing mapping. Used in high schools, universities, and at NYC Department of Health's Take Your Child to Work Day.

Experiential Learning

Led student expeditions to Norway (investigating the paradox of green credentials alongside gas exports and deep-sea mining) and Bhutan (studying Gross National Happiness and carbon negativity in practice). Launched the ADDvocate anti-discrimination course in Fall 2022 with lectures by subject experts on discrimination, bias, and active bystander strategies. Founded the Innovation Studio, a hands-on residency with 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines for 30 resident trainees.

Fellowship · Globethics

Ethical AI Governance Fellow, 2026

A comparative framework examining where and why AI ethics standards fail when they cross into Global Majority civil society contexts, and what governance infrastructure those organizations need to advocate for themselves in decision-making spaces.
